It's hard to believe that it's already been a year! Here's some of what we've been up to (drawn and animated by Curtiss).
We've spent a good amount of time on our yellow cargo bike shuttling Aidan to and from school.
This fall Carveth started school at Columbia University in the online program for a master’s in social work. Going for her second master’s was a big decision and working part-time/school part-time has been a challenge. Stay tuned for how advocacy design combines with social work.
Curtiss's father, Rickey, was diagnosed with Alzheimers and had to make the challenging move to an assisted living community. He's adjusting well, though, and has made quite a few friends. Our family had to start the difficult challenge of clearing out his house and putting it on the market.
The saddest part of the year was losing Curtiss’ Uncle David. He was an extraordinary person and uncle. He will be missed and his life was well-celebrated at multiple ceremonies, this one below at SAIS in Washington, DC.
Meanwhile, Aidan is forging his way in 4th grade. He has a love/dislike relationship with school...he grumbles about homework but likes the holiday parties and is part of a Secret Shrek Club. He's also started drawing more and together with his friends writing and illustrating their own books.
Aidan still will disappear into a book and loves to read.
Aidan loves soccer and we spend a lot of time at practice and cheering on the sidelines of fields across the five boroughs.
Meanwhile, Curtiss had a busy year, too. He's back to freelancing, helping with his father, cooking meals or retrieving them from local take-out spots, filling in while Carveth writes papers, and countless other things.
Curtiss has also been fitting in as much disc golf as he can...with some success, depending on the day.
Wishing you all a happy,
healthy new year!
